Day two in Mexico City..a full day of wandering.
A snippet of today's action.
#5: being awakened to a man selling cannisters of natural gas in the street before 8am. Ahh...Mexico!
#4: Some Mexican streets have pedestrian walk signals (this was a welcome change from Bogota and Lima where pedestrians totally fend for themselves)
#3: (you knew food had to make it) A delicious lunch of tortilla soup served with sliced avocado, queso fresco, and chicharron along with a spicy chicken and green chile tamale. Delicious.
#2: Museo Nacional de Arte--amazing collection of works by Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siquieros (including drawings, sketches, and smaller paintings--not just murals), Rufino Tamayo, Maria Izquierdo, etc...and I didn't even make it up to the third floor to see the pre-nineteenth century collection
And #1: finding Wal-Mart and purchasing paper coffee filters...these are tough to find in Mexico City, trust me! By the way, for all inquiring minds, Wal-Mart here looks pretty similar to its stores in the US.
Tomorrow the real work begins at the archive...
